What is MyFitnessPal?

With more than 200 million downloads and 3.7 million 5-star reviews, MyFitnessPal is one of the world’s most comprehensive nutrition and food tracking apps. Members use it to log food, hydration, weight, and exercise so they can better understand their habits and reach their goals.

How MyFitnessPal Can Support Government Health Programs

MyFitnessPal offers free Premium memberships to underserved and at-risk Americans through our collaboration with the White House Conference on Food, Nutrition, and Health. Program participants can access our complete set of features to build healthy habits and track their nutrition and fitness goals.

Easily track food and fitness

Participants can log food from a database of over 18 million global foods and view personal insights about their nutrition and exercise habits.

Share nutritional data

Our Progress Data File Export* lets program participants easily share their diary and nutrition data with healthcare providers.

Customize the app for individual needs

The Custom Goals by Day* feature allows participants to set calorie, carbs, protein, and fat goals according to day-to-day needs and training schedules.

Understand the impact of meal timing

Food Timestamps* show exactly when each food was logged, which can help participants connect meal timing to their hunger and energy levels.

Why MyFitnessPal Works

Self-monitoring and reporting are just two major benefits of MyFitnessPal that go toward improving program participants’ long-term health and fitness goals.

Self-Monitoring is a Proven Method for Behavioral Change

Behavioral change starts with self-awareness - Most people don’t know the nutritional value of what they’re eating, but studies show that people change their behavior simply as a result of having to write it down. In fact, research shows that dietary self-monitoring is effective for weight loss, dietary change, and physical activity.

Digital tracking is an effective approach - Studies suggest that digital self-monitoring is an effective weight loss and behavioral change tool. It’s also effective for maintaining weight loss. Our database of 18 million foods makes that process easier than ever.

Reporting Gives Providers Insights Into Nutrition Data

It’s about visibility and accountability - MyFitnessPal can be used as a dietary assessment tool where program participants can easily share food diaries and progress charts with healthcare providers. This can help providers monitor nutrition intake related to a diagnosed medical condition or goal, and identify areas of concern.
